Notice: The Waiting List for Housing Choice Vouchers (HCV) opens December 16-20, 2024.

During this time you will apply to be placed on the wait list.

We are excited to announce the opening of the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program waiting list. If you are seeking housing assistance, this is your opportunity to apply and be placed on the waiting list. The wait list will be open for applications starting December 16, 2024 to December 20, 2024.

HOW TO PREPARE
To ensure a smooth application process, follow these steps before December 16, 2024:

  • Create an Account: Visit the HABC website to set up your account on the Applicant Portal.
  • Check Your Access: Verify you have access to a computer with internet capabilities. Local libraries and community centers may offer free computer access.
  • Gather Required Information: Prepare the necessary documentation and details for your application. (Social Security number, current income, date of birth, and child's date of birth, if applicable)

IMPORTANT DETAILS ABOUT THE HCV WAITING LIST APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. Application Period
    – Start Date: Monday, December 16, 2024, at 6:00 AM
    – End Date: Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11:59 PM
  2. How To Apply
    – Applications must be submitted online through the APPLICANT PORTAL on the HABC website.
    –Computer access is required. The portal cannot be accessed via mobile phones or tablets.
  3. First-Come, First Served Policy Does NOT Apply
    -Submitting your application early during the open period does not increase your chances.
    -Ensure your application is accurate and complete before submission.
  4. One Application Per Person
    -Duplicate applications will result in ineligibility. Please submit only one application per household.
  5. Monitor & Update Your Application Status
    -It is the applicant’s responsibility to check the status of their application after submission.
    -Applicant’s must update any changes in address in the applicant portal.
  6. Confirmation Number & Email Address
    – A confirmation number will be generated for each applicant.
    – It is the responsibility of the applicant to save this confirmation number to check the status of the application. 
    – HABC does NOT have access to confirmation numbers, email address used to create an account, or the ability to reset account passwords.

No, applying for the waiting list does not guarantee you will receive a voucher. It only ensures that your name is placed on the list for consideration when vouchers become available.

No, the application process is NOT first-come, first served. All applications received during the open time period will have the opportunity to be placed on the waiting list, regardless of when the application is submitted.

No, the Applicant Portal is not accessible on mobile devices. You must use a desktop or laptop computer.
