In October of 1994, HABC purchased a 204-unit multi-family apartment complex. This property was purchased under the Residential Trust Corporation Affordable Housing Disposition program. The property must be maintained in accordance with the Land Use Restriction Agreement by making available 72 units for lower income families at rents affordable at the income level. The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) monitor the administration of this property. TDHCA provides the income limits and allowable rents to HABC for the 72 units designated for lower income families. The remaining 132 units are at market rents.
Bear Springs Apartments support the Fair Housing Act as amended and prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, national origin, sex, familial status handicap.
All applicants are required to provide Bear Springs with at least three consecutive pay stubs for each occupant, 18 years of age or older. In addition, applicants must provide authorized written verification of any additional sources of household income which may include child support payments, social security payments, income tax returns (if self-employed), bank statements and interest bearing statements from financial institutions.
